St. Domingue freedom

Before Haiti was Haiti it was St. Domingue. There were lots of classes but I only feel like talking about two of the classes and their thoughts of freedom. The first class I’d like to talk about is the slave owners; they obviously owned slaves judging by their classes name… I guess they felt free because they ran the show. They got way better food then the slaves, they had control over other humans and could whip them if they wanted to without any reason. I think that the slave owners thought that freedom was having control and being able to do what they want. Now the slaves probably expected less when they thought of freedom. They probably imagined freedom as not getting whipped, working insanely long hours, and having some of their own land to grow what they wished to grow on that land.
I think that the slave owners expected way to much when they thought of freedom because they were so well off and really had nothing to worry about. They had all the food the needed if they wanted to they could probably sleep in, which a slave would probably been beaten for.
I think freedom is being able to live, eat, sleep, be happy, worship what you want, and fight for what you think is right. I know it sounds like I don’t want much from life because I actually don’t just want to make the most of it I believe you only live once.
If the world today decided to use my definition of freedom as the world wide definition of freedom I think the world as we know it would collapse. I don’t think the world will ever be ready for my simple yea empowering definition of freedom. If in St. Domingue back then they decided to use my definition of freedom there probably would be no slavery.
